Day 5: Batu Caves and arriving at the national park
Hi! Today we left Kuala Lumpur and took a bus drive to the Batu Caves. We drove for about 45 minutes until we arrived at the caves. We were toured around by our guide, Mr. Moru, and walked up the 270 colorful steps to the caves. At the caves, Mr. Moru explained Hinduism as we explored the two temples. After climbing down the steps we boarded the bus to a traditional Malaysian Indian Fusion lunch. This lunch was eaten on banana leaves with only our right hands. It was very delicious however after it left our hands very dirty. Then we got back on the bus for a three hour ride to the village, making two stops at a convenience store and a large supermarket, where we purchased needs for the home stays and some comfort food. The village we are staying at starting tomorrow is located right next to a National Park which is just a boat ride away. Once we arrived at the village, we took the boat ride over to where we would stay the night. It's really hot and humid, so we cooled off with showers. We then walked over to dinner and saw many monkeys, even one trying to open a water bottle. After dinner, we are going to go on a hour long night hike and we hope to see more wildlife. We are so excited for tomorrow to meet our homestays!
Until Next Time,
