Day 6: Morning Hike and Homestays!!!
Hello Everybody! Today, we made the grand transition into the beginning of our homestay experience. Last night, we went on a night hike through the rainforest and saw a diverse ray of animals including mouse deer, scorpions, snakes, and insects(apparently last years group wasn't as lucky!). The following morning, after enjoying a great breakfast, we went on a morning nature walk, and explored more of the national park. We heard a multitude of different animals, but unfortunately did not see much. There was a fun skipping stones competitions at the riverside between the boys and girls later on in the hike. The girls won (allegedly), and we enjoyed lunch at the cabins. After a transfer out of the cabins into the village, we all met our new homestay families! We then got to get to know each of our homestay families through fun games and activities (as well as being spoiled with some food). Our group eventually made our way to a local park, where we played American Football with many of the young kids nearby, further getting to know the local community. Some of us watercolored with the more of the local kids, the girls got boba for winning the skipping stones competitions, and Allen and I (Grant) played card games with our family(they knew poker and a Chinese card game!). We each finally retired to our homestay houses to enjoy a delicious dinner, and continue conversation. Allen and I played more card games with our family and learned more of the local cuisine. Overall a great day, and the start of an amazing experience!
Yours Truly,
- Grant and Allen
