Day 7: Indigenous School and Village Visiting

Today we started the day by taking a 1-hour boat ride down stream to the Bateq community. We were joined by Andrew, who established the school in the village and brought over sanitation. Once there, the older children of the community gave us a short tour through their homes. We then split into two groups, one group played sports (soccer & badminton) with the older children, and the second group assisted the younger children in coloring, Menlo sent with us coloring supplies and sport supplies to give to the children. We also played tic tac toe with a few of the kids and then provided some lunch for them. After, we took the boat back and ate lunch at a floating restaurant, which was a delicious chicken curry with rice. On the way home we quickly stopped for ice cream. To end the day, we were brought back to our homestays to spend more time with our families and children.
